Chairman of Shanxi Chamber of Commerce


Jia Xuefeng, Chairman of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade(CCPIT) Shanxi Sub-council, will attend the Chinese Provinces/ Cities Promotion Session as a keynote speaker to promote his province.

Shanxi is a province of the People's Republic of China, located in the North China region. Its one-character abbreviation is Jìn, after the state of Jin that existed here during the Spring and Autumn Period (722 BC - 403 BC). The capital of the province is Taiyuan, a very dynamic modern city and also a key economic center of Northern China. The population of Shanxi Province is about 37 million and it covers a total area of 156,000 square kilometers.

Shanxi Province is a leading Chinese coal production base whose gross domestic product (GDP) and foreign trade have been soaring in the past few years. As the energy and raw material industry in the world booms, Shanxi's GDP grew at an annual rate of 12 percent, much higher than the average rate for the whole of China, which was around 9 percent from 2000 to 2004. In 2002, Shanxi's GDP and financial revenue was 201.7 billion yuan and 29.2 billion yuan, while in 2004, its GDP and financial revenue reached 304.2 billion yuan and 53.3 billion yuan, jumping 24 percent and 40.5 percent respectively.

Chinese Provinces/ Cities Promotion Session

Chinese Provinces / Cities Promotion Session is an important sub-forum under the grand event— Australasia China Cities Summit & Business Forum (ACCS&ACBF). It is a special session set up to provide opportunities for Chinese provinces and cities to show their unique charm and potential of development to Australia, New Zealand, Pacific Island Countries and the rest of the world, thus to attract more business to China to boost its economy.

During the big gathering of the Chinese Provinces / Cities Promotion Session, the number of Chinese cities and provinces that will be attending this Promotion Session totaled more than 50. For example, Liupanshui City of Guizhou Province, Sichuan Province, Yingtan City of Jiangxi Province, Guiyang City of Guizhou Province, Urumqi City of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region and Mentougou District of Beijing City will all attend the promotion session.

More cities and provinces will be present at the promotion session to communicate and exchange ideas about the related issues with cities and states from Australia, New Zealand and Island Countries. This session will provide them with an excellent opportunity for Chinese mayors and governmental officials to establish friendship/cooperative city relationships with Australian cities and states, to share experiences in the development of cities and provinces. It would be a perfect platform providing Australasian businessmen and governmental officials an insight of Chinese investment regulations and cooperative projects of the attending Chinese cities and provinces.
