Delegation from Yueqing City

  Delegation of Yueqing City, Zhejiang Province will attend ACSCS & ACBS Summit 2010. The delegates include government officers, expertises of the education sector and executives of enterprises.

 The delegation expects to visit educational institutions and schools so as to exchange ideas with other parties to learn experiences. They also want to seek strategic partners for educational exchange programs.

City’s Profile:

Yueqing, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of the municipality of Wenzhou-is situated in the coastal area of southeast Zhejiang Province. Bordered by the rippling sea off the shore of the Yueqing Bay, it faces downtown Wenzhou across a river to the south. The city covers a land area of 1,174 square kilometres and a sea area of 270 square kilometres. Yueqing was incorporated as a county in 374, or the second year of the Ningkangreign of the East Jin Dynasty, and had remained as such until it was established as a city in 1993.

 The municipal people' govern ment of Yueqing is seated in Yuecheng Town, and under its jurisdiction are 21towns and 10townships, with a population of 1.139 million.

Economic Features:

Since ancient times Yueqing has been a major commodities, distribution and trading centre in the coastal areas of Zhejiang. It was also one of the earliest places in China to have developed a mature market economy. Evidence of this is that there are 80 markets dealing in capital goods and consumer products, with a total annual business volume of more than 3.4 billion Yuan. 

  Well-Developed Transportation The first stage of construction has just been completed for Qili Harbor, a state-invested harbor which, when completed, will dispatch goods to every major harbor of China with a designed annual cargo handling capacity of 3.59 million tons.

 GDPof  Yueqing City  was up to 41.86 billion Yuan, in 2009 which has increased by 8.5 percent at comparable prices. The Added Value of primary industry was 1.458 billion Yuan, secondary industry was 25.362 billion Yuan, and tertiary industry was 15.04 billion Yuan. Per capita GDP (at household population) rose 7.2 percent from the previous year to 34,396 Yuan, about 5,035 U.S. dollars.
