Invitation to Trade Mission to Xinjiang

The 3rd Silk Road Economic Belt Cities Cooperation and Development Forum and The 2nd Silk Road International Food Exhibition and Trade Fair.

The Silk Road changed the world forever. The Silk Road Economic Belt aims to bring together Asia and Europe with closer trade and cultural ties. Agreements involving 24 cities and 8 countries have already been set out at the Silk Road Economic Belt Cities Cooperation and Development Forum in November 2013.

The 3rd Silk Road Economic Belt Cities Cooperation and Development Forum will be held from 24-25 July 2015 in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region's capital city of Urumqi.


This forum will follow 'Peace and cooperation, openness and inclusiveness, mutual learning and mutual benefit' form the core values of the Silk Road Spirit, as proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping. To share development opportunities and successful experience, to explore a new way of higher level, higher level and deeper regional cooperation, jointly build cultural exchanges and regional economic cooperation framework.

Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region is an autonomous region of China in the northwest of the country. It is the largest Chinese administrative division, the 8th largest country subdivision in the world, spanning over 1.6 million km2 and the most populous amongst the ten largest national subdivisions. It contains the disputed territory of Aksai Chin administered by China. Xinjiang contains China's smaller border with Russia, but its other international borders are with Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India.

Urumqi is the capital of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China in Northwest China. Urumqi was a major hub on the Silk Road during China's Tang dynasty, and developed its reputation as a leading cultural and commercial center during the Qing dynasty. With a built-up population of 2,988,715 as of 2010 census and 3.03 million in 7 urban and suburban districts, Urumqi is the largest city in China's western interior. Since the 1990s Urumqi has developed economically and now serves as a regional transport node, cultural, and commercial centre.
