Councillor Keith Rhoades - President of Local Government Association of NSW
Cr Keith Rhoades AFSM, was elected as President of the Local Government Association of NSW in October 2010 and is the Mayor of Coffs Harbour. Cr Rhoades was first elected to council in 1991, elected as Deputy Mayor in 1999 and has been Mayor since 2004.
Cr Rhoades has served with the NSW Fire Brigade for the past 38 years and is the Station Commander at Sawtell. His efforts with the NSW Fire Brigade were awarded with the Australian Fire Service Medal in 2005.
Cr Rhoades has served on the Local Government Association Executive since 2008. He is looking forward to continuing to demonstrate his strong commitment to Local Government; and for greater recognition of the crucial role that Local Government has to play in these tough financial times.
Cr Rhoades is dedicated to representing the needs of NSW councils and pushing for increased funding, services and infrastructure for local communities. In addition, Cr Rhoades is committed to progressing the One Association project in co-operation with his colleague, Cr Donald of the Shires Association with the knowledge that a strong united voice for Local Government will benefit all councils across NSW.
